To keep silent now is impossible and even criminal. The events which have just occurred oblige us as anarchists to peak frankly and set forth our attitude towards the present situasion.

in every land, in all ages, there have been tyrannicides; that is, men and women who loved their country well enough to sacrifie even their own lives for it. Usually they were persons of no political party or idea, but simply haters of tyranny. Occasionally they were religious fanatics, like the misguided entbusiast Charlotte corday who killed marat during the French Revolution.

The man of the coming day will see and feel exitence on an ectirely different plane. Living to him will be an art and a joy. He will cease to consider it as a race where every one must try to become as good a runner as the fastest. He will regard leisure as more important than work, and work will fall into its proper, subordinate place as the means to leisure, to the enjoument of life.

Revolutionary defence must be in consonance with this spirit. Self defence excludes all acts of coercion, of persecution of revenge. It is concerded only with repelling attack and depriving teh enemy of opportunity to invade you.
